Leiferman, Fischer Earn State Tennis Berth

The Atlantic doubles team of Mitch Leiferman and Tyler Fischer have advanced to the boys state tennis tournament by winning the Red Oak district meet on Thursday.  The runners-up, Jordan nelson & Craig White of Red Oak also advanced.  In singles,Pete Walker of Red Oak and Harlan’sNate Ohms both qualified.  See the state qualifiers list in class 1-A here.  Atlantic and Glenwood advanced to the team sub-state as well which will be held on Saturday, May 12th at Atlantic at 10:00.  See the pairing here.

Doubles championship: Mitch Leiferman 12/Tyler Fischer 11 (Atlantic) over Jordan Nelson 10/Craig White 12 (Red oak) 6-1 1-6 7-6(7-4 tiebreak)  (both teams advance to State)
3rd Place: Trent Turney 12/Jacob Holmes 11 (Shenandoah) over Garrett Hembry 12/Joe Gunkelman 10 (Glenwood) 8-5
